Design concept
Presented Jan 2026The overall design direction for the house is rooted in a light, airy interpretation of a classic Cotswold cottage, balanced with a clean contemporary edge. Downstairs, the palette will be calm and welcoming, using natural stone, warm woods and soft neutral tones to enhance the sense of space and flow. The kitchen will sit firmly at the heart of the home, designed to feel timeless rather than statement-led. Given the run of tall cabinetry, the main kitchen colour will remain understated and elegant, allowing the space to breathe, while the island provides an opportunity for a subtle contrast to add depth and visual interest. Comfortable, well-proportioned sofas and carefully layered lighting will reinforce a relaxed, lived-in feel that still feels considered and stylish.
In contrast, the utility room and cloakroom offer the chance to be more playful, introducing richer, more saturated colours such as deep burgundy, warm yellows or inky greens. The guest bedrooms will follow a similar approach, with accents of soft blues, sage greens and muted reds.
The master bedroom and ensuite will be designed as a calm retreat, with a restful, harmonious palette and shaker-style built-in cabinetry. Throughout the house, the focus is on texture and natural materials to create a home that feels cosy, welcoming and practical, yet quietly refined.
